Now providing free writer visits for more than 50,000 students each year, our schools programme has been encouraging children to read, write, create and learn through books since 1974.

Our Meet the Author events expose audiences throughout New Zealand to writers they’ve long admired, and others they may not have read yet.


Words on Wheels

The New Zealand Book Council’s Words on Wheels or WOW tour sends a wagon-load of top writers into rural New Zealand each year.


International programme

Our International Witers' Programme supports New Zealand writers to greater success on the world stage and our literary culture and heritage to greater exposure outside New Zealand.
