I love books and I love drawing, but mostly I read and write and draw quietly in my studio alone. It's a bit like going to the movies by yourself all the time. Visiting schools gives me a chance to try and share the pictures and the stories that I've seen, the characters and the places, the baddies and the goodies, the whys and the wheres and the hows. It gives me a chance to whistle and throw jaffas and cheer and clap, but most of all it gives me the chance to shout "Who else loves doing this?" and sometimes, just sometimes, someone shouts back "I do!".
