His first book, Echoes in the Blue, was published in 2007 by Koru Press. It was described by his publishers as ‘fact-based’ fiction, and in a review in Practical Ethics by Dr Kris Stewart as ‘a compelling story about humanity’s conflict with the natural world based on evidence about illegal whaling in the Southern Ocean.’

Siobhan Harvey, reviewing in The Dominion Post, praised the book as a ‘spirited eco-thriller’ and a ‘gripping whodunit set in the world of international whaling.’ Andrew Phillips wrote in SAFE Review, ‘In all, a thrilling story, with an important message, definitely worth a read’. Philippa Jamieson reviewed Echoes in the Blue in the NZ Herald, writing, ‘C. George Muller can certainly tell a good story, and kept me up past bedtime a few nights, with my heart racing.’

C. George Muller won the silver medal at the 2007 Nautilus Book Awards for Echoes in the Blue. He was also winner of the 2005 Richard Webster Popular Fiction Award for an unpublished manuscript.

He has published editorials on the subject of whaling in the NZ Herald and Nelson Mail.
