Member benefits: schools
The Book Council provides two member-based programmes that bring writers, storytellers, illustrators and students together: Writers in Schools and WordSpace.
School subscription to the Book Council runs for a calendar year, January to December. Your membership entitles you to:
- Apply for one free half-day visit by a New Zealand writer, storyteller or illustrator as part of our Writers in Schools programme
- Free participation for secondary school members in our WordSpace series.
- One free, full-colour poster from our Literary Pin-ups series featuring leading New Zealand writers and discounted prices for the rest of the series
- One free 2007 WordSpace DVD to secondary schools when they become members (additional WordSpace DVDs can be purchased at a reduced rate).
- Email promotions of our events that are suitable for class subscriptions at t reduced rate and advance notice of all Book Council events and reduced tickets for two staff members to any of our events
- A free copy of our quarterly magazine, Booknotes – news, interviews and children’s book reviews
- Great discounts at selected bookstores and professional theatres
- A 10% discount on accommodation at the Booklovers Bed and Breakfast, Wellington.
