Max Harris, author of best-selling book 'The New Zealand Project', is coming to Christchurch! He'll be speaking at the Gibson Centre at Rangi Ruru Girls' School at 7.00 pm on Wednesday 24 May. Free entry, all welcome (no rsvps needed).
Max will be joined in conversation by Sam Johnson, Lindsey MacDonald and Sylvia Nissen, chaired by Bronwyn Hayward.
Max Harris’s The New Zealand Project puts forward, from the perspective of a young New Zealander, a vision for deepening our political discussion, starting conversations, and confronting the challenges ahead.
By any measure, New Zealand must confront monumental challenges in the years ahead. The scale of issues like climate change, the future of work in an age of automation, and mass imprisonment often seem at odds with New Zealand’s constrained political actions and engagement.
The New Zealand Project has sparked debate throughout the country since its release in mid April. New Zealand’s major media outlets have covered it, including the NZ Herald, Dominion Post, The Press, Otago Daily Times, TVNZ, RNZ, and the NZ Listener.
At the Gibson Centre on 24 May, Max will discuss politics in New Zealand today and why it needs impatience and imagination – and the values of care, community, and creativity.
