Write like a Boss. Write like a Champion. Write like an AUTHOR!
Write Like an Author is the internationally acclaimed writing course for middle-grade students that shows them how to write stories the way professional authors do. On a four day, school holiday writing camp, international, award winning author and writing coach Brian Falkner will take your young writer on a journey of fun and discovery, learning how to create, develop and write awesome stories, with Brian right alongside them, guiding them every step of the way.
The Write Like an Author programme has been developed and proven for over eight years in classrooms in Australia, New Zealand and the USA. If you'd like to have a book published there are more opportunities for you now than ever before and this course will give you the skills and techniques you need to write awesome stories, perhaps even a novel.
Who is it for? This course is for students aged 10 to 14 who are enthusiastic about writing. It is also suitable for older students, and younger, if they are already confident writers.
What is it about? Write Like an Author will teach your child the skills they need to construct well-crafted, imaginative stories. Through course-books, workshops and writing camps your child will be taken on a guided journey at the end of which is a story they have created. Each day consists of instruction, focused writing time and one-on-one mentoring, along with some fun activities and games. Students focus on their goal of producing a story to the very best of their abilities, along the way learning all the skills they will need.
Author: Internationally acclaimed author Brian Falkner will run the writing camp. Brian is the award-winning author of seventeen books for children and young adults, published in over twelve countries. His first book The Flea Thing was published in 2003 and since that time he has won many awards for his work. In 2016 his novel Battlesaurus: Rampage at Waterloo won the Young Adult Book of the Year in the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults. It was also nominated for the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards, and is a Junior Library Guild selection in the United States.
For the last eight years Brian has also been touring the world teaching and coaching students in creative writing. His energy and humour make his workshops a fun and rewarding experience for young writers and his sessions are in high demand.
