Storylines: Children’s Literature Foundation of New Zealand is a national networking group for the many individuals, agencies and organisations in New Zealand concerned with children’s literature and literacy; members include parents, teachers, librarians, writers, illustrators, publishers, booksellers and any other interested people.

The aim of the Foundation is to promote public awareness of the value of books and reading for children from preschool to young adults and to support the development of New Zealand children’s literature. Margaret Mahy and Joy Cowley, two of New Zealand's best known writers for children, are the patrons of the Foundation.

The Foundation administers five major awards:

The Margaret Mahy Medal and Lecture Award
The Betty Gilderdale Award
The Tom Fitzgibbon Award
The Gaelyn Gordon Award
The Joy Cowley Award

The Foundation hosts the annual Storylines Festival of New Zealand Writers and Illustrators, and since 2000 produces the annual Notable Book List to reflect the wide-ranging achievements of New Zealand authors and illustrators.
