Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa


LIANZA is the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa - the professional body of the New Zealand library, information and knowledge sector.

LIANZA is a national organisation but members can also participate locally or through special interest groups. Today over 1600 individuals and organisations enjoy the benefits of membership; members' interests are represented through the elected National Council. LIANZA is a long-standing organisation, beginning in 1910 as the New Zealand Library Association.

LIANZA is actively committed to the recognition and implementation of the Treaty of Waitangi, demonstrated by the partnership relationship with Te Röpü Whakahau : Mäori Library & Information Workers Association.

LIANZA's goals are to promote libraries and information; to foster the profession and to provide professional leadership.
