The Margaret Mahy Medal

The Margaret Mahy Medal is given annually by Storylines Children's Literature Foundation of New Zealand for a distinguished contribution to children's literature and literacy.

The recipient is expected to be a person of national/international standing in the broad field of children's reading who has made a substantial contribution in this field over a considerable period of time.

The recipient must be available to give the Margaret Mahy lecture at a time specified by the executive (usually in March). Nominations are sought in November of the previous year from groups and individuals. The CLFNZ reserves the right to withhold the award in any given year.
