Studio for a Writer at Lake House Arts Centre Takapuna.
Lake House Arts Centre has always had painters in this studio space but the Trust Board thought that it would be interesting to have a writer working at Lake House. There are 6 studios and the rest are occupied by artists working in different areas – painting, printmaking, sculpture. This is a studio for working in only – no-one may live at Lake House, although the artists can work at any time of the day or night. There would be no objection to two writers sharing the space if that made it more affordable. Lake House Arts Centre is located on Fred Thomas Drive, Barrys Pt Reserve, Takapuna. Off street parking, café on site. Rent : $216 (inc. gst) per month. Tel 09 486 4877 or email lakehousearts@ihug.co.nz for further information or to register your interest.

International Artists' Residency - The City Hall of Paris and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs offer a residents' programme at Couvent des Récollets, a prestigious building renovated in 2003, on the banks of Saint Martin Canal, in the heart of Paris, to foreign artists specialized in any discipline. The winners will be accommodated in one of six available studio-flats (52 to 87 m2) for a period of three months to 1one year. Artists will be selected by a board of examiners on the basis of a project they would like to develop in Paris during their stay. This project can be carried out at the invitation of a Paris art institution or as a personal artistical research approach. Support, studio/accommodation, and a stipend are provided by the Paris city council; return airfares for any NZ artists accepted would be paid by the French Embassy in New Zealand.
Applications are open from 15 April to 15 June 2004. Full information and application forms can be found on the website: www.recollets.com
