New Zealand Book Month

Running for the month of September every year, New Zealand Book Month is your chance to celebrate the best of New Zealand writing. Every September, hundreds of New Zealand writer events are held, enabling New Zealanders to be introduced to new writers and hear old favourites talking about new work.

One of the most important things about NZ Book Month every year is a competition which will call for any New Zealand writer – published or unpublished – to submit their best piece of new writing (fiction, non-fiction, essay or poetry) for inclusion in The Six Pack. Five of the winning entries are chosen by a panel of judges and the sixth finalist is chosen by Kiwi readers in an online poll.
