Auckland Writers & Readers Festival, previously The Auckland Writers’ Festival, is an annual event.

A highlight of the city's cultural calendar, the Festival brings together acclaimed writers and thousands of readers in a week of innovative programmes, readings, workshops and literary events.

"Our aim continues to be to provide unprecedented access to high-quality local and international authors, academics and intellectual debate," says creative director Stephanie Johnson.

The Festival recently became a charitable trust. The Festival board, which includes creative directors Peter Wells and Stephanie Johnson, is chaired by Michael Moynahan, managing director of Random House New Zealand.
