Montana Poetry Day

Montana Poetry Day was first established by Booksellers New Zealand in 1998.

Supported by Montana Wines and Creative New Zealand, its main aim is to broaden and strengthen the appeal of poetry; to popularise its image and show that poetry is a medium that is accessible to all.

The day also heightens the profile of the Montana New Zealand Book Awards poetry finalists and provides a platform for new and emerging poets.

Montana Poetry Day 2006

Montana Poetry Day 2006 is now underway. This year it will be celebrated on Friday 21 July. As in previous years Montana Poetry Day falls after the announcement of the finalists for the Montana New Zealand Book Awards (2 June) and before the announcement of the winners (24 July).

The winner of the poetry category will be announced on Montana Poetry Day.

If you would like to be involved in this year's nationwide events, please contact Mary Gavigan for event guidelines, registration forms and an application for funding. For more information visit www.montananzbookawards.co.nz.
