Auckland University Creative Writing Course

This is a Stage III paper which is also open to MA students. It is a year long course taken by Professor Albert Wendt and Witi Ihimaera. The class meets for three hours every week in a workshop format. One semester is spent on writing poetry. The second semester is spent on writing fiction.

To apply for the course, a student must submit a small file of writing in December of every year (at least 3 poems and three short stories) for enrolment in the subsequent year. Twelve to fourteen students are selected for the course. There is no examination. Assessment is on the basis of coursework for the year.
