MARRINER, Craig

Anarchic, polemical and wickedly funny.

MARRINER, Craig (1974-) is a novelist. Marriner was born and raised in Rotorua. After leaving school in the seventh form, Marriner went to Australia. Three years later he returned to New Zealand, travelled around for a year, and then left to travel in Europe, Turkey, Amsterdam and Morocco. He lists gold mining, soccer stadium security, MC at a comedy club, and haggling in Istanbul as past employment.

In 2003 literary agent Michael Gifkins sold an option to buy the film rights to Marriner's prize-winning novel Stonedogs to prominent Australian production company Mushroom Pictures.

The Sargeson Trust and national law firm Buddle Findlay have announced that novelists Karyn Hay and Craig Marriner are the 2004 Buddle Findlay Sargeson Fellows.
