April through December, write and workshop nine new stories from the comfort of your home.
At the Kahini Café, your work is read intensively by other serious writers as you write and prepare your work for publication.
Daily prompts and weekly craft lessons and readings are designed to be read/viewed at your own pace and leisure. Topics include voice, language, tone, color, imagery, feel, character, story, conflict, tension, dialogue, conflict, scene-building, crisis, resolution, epiphany, the objective correlative, and vertical writing (just to name a few!) as well as venues to submit ongoing work.
They use a closed Facebook group to post and respond to one another’s stories, which works really well! This program offers MFA-level fiction workshops but better results, at .0073 of the annual cost. The focus of this nine-month program is on getting you to the point where you’re placing your unique work consistently in journals and magazines.
During this year, they'll study, write, and workshop nine new stories:
April: the 55-word short story
May: the 101-word short story
June: the 300-word short story
July: the 500-word short story
August: the 1,000-word short story
September: the 500-word short story
October: the 300-word short story
November: the 101-word short story
December: the 55-word short story
Their goal for this program is to submit work for ongoing publication in literary magazines and contests, getting work read by a wider audience and building your portfolio of publications.
